| New Of f ice Opens in Sioux Falls, SD
Prosthetic Laboratories of Rochester, Inc. opened its newest branch office in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on March 13, 2007. We are located on 18th Street between the two main hospitals. We have a freestanding building with approximately 2500 square feet, which includes a cast room, two fitting rooms and the potential for another fitting room as the office grows.
The Grand Opening celebration on July 18th will feature a Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting, and catering by a local pastry shop.
Terry Wietfeld, CP, is the branch manager. He moved to Sioux Falls from the La Crosse office in the first part of February to oversee the end stages of the office build-out. His family, which includes his wife Staci, daughter Sydni (4), and son Tate (2), followed two weeks later. They live 10 miles southeast of Sioux Falls where, said Terry, “our two children can run, get dirty, and fall out of trees like kids should.” Staci is working as an outpatient PT at Avera Mckennan Hospital. Terry graduated with a BA in Human Biology and Behavior from Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, MN. He earned his Prosthetic Practitioner Certificate and an A.A.S. in Prosthetic Technology from Century College. Terry is Certified by the American Board for Certification (ABC) in Prosthetics. He is also an ABC Certified Orthotic fitter.
Terry grew up in a small farming community in Nebraska. His first experience with the field of prosthetics came when he was five years old. A family friend and neighbor lost his arm in a farming accident. Even at his young age, he could see the devastating effect of losing an arm. However, when that farmer had a properly fitting prosthesis, Terry saw that he could do nearly everything he was doing before the accident, and maybe a few new things. This sent a strong message that still resides in Terry’s memory today. This neighbor is why he will always have a particular interest in upper extremity prosthetics.
Office manager Linda Andersen began work in the office on April 16th. She lives near Hartford, SD at Wall Lake. She
and her husband Chuck have been married 37 years this May. They have 4 children and 5 grandchildren: Alan (36) and his wife Lea, their kids Cora (5) and Abe (1 ½); Aaron (35) and his wife Betsy, their daughter Bianca (1); Carrie (32) and her husband Josh, their kids Kinsley (2) and Brody (1 month); and Brett (22), who is a student at South Dakota State University. Linda grew up on a farm near Larchwood, Iowa with her brother, Kenny Bruggeman, CP, Rochester. Prior to her job with Prosthetic Labs, she worked at Sanford Health (formerly Sioux Valley Hospital) in home care for the past 15 ½ years. Linda enjoys gardening, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
